Karen M. Neaton, CPA, CFE, CIA, CFF
Karen Neaton joined the Joseph R. Schortz, CPA, PLLC team in 2006. With 43 years of experience in public accounting and private industry, Karen specializes in working directly with clients to develop and execute audit plans, to provide expertise for fraud examinations, and to complete internal control reviews and assessments. She also prepares tax returns for a variety of clients and businesses, including individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts.
Prior to joining the firm, Karen worked at General Motors Acceptance Corporation, Deloitte & Touche, Wayne State University, and City National Bank. She has earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Wayne State University, graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors. Karen is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed to practice in Michigan and Florida, as well as a Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Internal Auditor, and Certified in Financial Forensics. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA), Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), and Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). Karen has been married to her husband Richard for 42 years. Over the years, they have rescued and raised several cats. Karen is also an avid reader.
